Hello 👋

My family & I are considering a move to the Tri-cities area. Please help me out with relocation info.

How similar is the Tri-cities climate to Las Vegas Nevada?
Is it so dry that Keeping up on grass( lawn) is time & using tons of water?
Is it tough to grow plants, vegetables and all?

Where is the closest farm where we can get fruits & veggies?

Which areas Are unsafe? Crime wise. Any gang issues?

Is it possible to find a 4 bedroom home in a good school district ( high school) for under 315,000?

What would the property taxes average on a 315,000 home?

How is the quality of doctors & hospitals in the Tri cities area? Is there many specialists to pick from?

Is it very windy in the Tri cities area?

How is the current job market in the Tri cities? Is it a booming area? Future job growth look good?

Is car insurance high/Average?

How are the utility prices?

Thank you 😊 any info helps

Have a safe & wonderful night!!

I did live outside of Las Vegas in the 70's and have spent time in the Tri-Cities area...so people living there might chime in with more information.

Tri-Cities climate is colder than Las Vegas particularly in winter. You can easily get snow in Tri-Cities in winter, but usually not. The weather in Tri-Cities between Thanksgiving and President's Day is just as awful as Seattle and Seattle has the worst cloudy weather in the nation!!

Not sure water conservation is the issue as it is in Las Vegas. Lots of water in the Columbia River.

Great climate for gardening. No problems. Lots of corporate agriculture in the area. Any direction from Tri-Cities will get you into agricultural areas. What do you want to buy??? Wines, watermelons, wheat, potato's, etc. etc.

Crime...stay away from Pasco. Live in Richland for schools and safe environment. The high school mascot is the Richland Bombers and you can get really cool baseball hats with a mushroom cloud on it!!

It is windy in Tri-Cities. Similar to Las Vegas. The problem is that state of Washington and the environmentalists have been destroying much of eastern Washington with Industrial Wind Areas. So far they have destroyed over 200,000 in Washington state, much of it around the Tri-Cities area. Given the massive tax subsidies to Corporate Wind Companies, and western Washington politicians I see that acreage going up signicantly in future years.

Tri-Cities has been on a boom/bust cycle centered around Federal government operations at Hanford. Curently, it is a boom. Tri-Cities has the best educated workforce in Washington state. Lots of real high tech scientists (unlike the coders in Puget Sound), but the state government has been very hostile to Tri-Cities over the years and the economic development. The highest business taxes in Washington state are for companies cleaning up the Hanford site!!! Really, tax a clean-up!! It will remain to be seen if they are past the boom bust/cycle, but given the state government dislike of Tri-Cities....we will see.

Not sure of your other questions, since I don't live there.

I loved Las Vegas in the middle 70's. Didn't even stop when I went through town a few years ago. It looks awful.

I replied similarly in the Tri-Cities thread. Looks like your post was moved, thus the confusion.
