Hi, I'd like to know what's the safest route to drive from Tricities to Stevens Pass during November-December.
Google maps shows three options: by Othello, by Mattawa and by Yakima.
I am driving a Corolla, do I need tire chains?
Thank you.

The options are limited. Take US 395 north to Mesa, then to Moses Lake on WA-17, I-90 west to 281 to Quincy, then 17 to Wenatchee, then US 2 to Stevens Pass.

You should be fine up to Wenatchee, but US 2 to Stevens can be snowy. Check in with 511 for road conditions at that point.

Particularly if you are not an experienced snow driver, the route I would recommend is to drive over to PSC and then fly. If you buy 14 days in advance, Horizon is pretty cheap, really.

Except there are no flights from PSC to Wenatchee. A plane change at SEA makes this trip unreasonable.

It's not clear to me that the OP is wanting to go to Wenatchee, or if they want to go to Seattle, just that they want to go to or through Stevens Pass.

Flying is a PITA anymore, and, yeah, you can't go "podunk to podunk" without going first to a larger hub. That said I would rather fly to Seattle, change planes, and on to Wenatchee, than have even the most innocuous fender-bender type wreck out in the snow.

I'm not clear either. The OP says he is going to Stevens Pass. I don't think he/she said what the final destination was.

So, I take it they are driving to Stevens Pass. In this case, from Pasco, you drive to Wenatchee then up US2 to Stevens Pass. But perhaps I am missing something here?
