Hi All,
Was looking at the maps of Tri-Cities in my search for a place to buy a home for the duration.

Notices an "East Africa Halal" store when I searched for Grocery Stores.

Is there a large african population in the Tri-Cities, to support a Halal grocery store?

Not sure about that question. My best guess is no, there is not a large african population in Tri-Cities. Tri-Cities demographics tend to average at about 65% white, 25% hispanic, and 10% other.

This requires a Muslim population to support Halal stores. There is a Mosque and about 0.5% Muslim population in the area.

Apparently there are 3 markets that feature Halal food, one is Costco (who knew?)

Probably Tri-City International Market is your best bet.

There is not a big Islamic or Halal presence in the Tri. I do notice that some of the Mexican cheese I buy at Safeway is now marked Halal, as well as Kosher.

If you are hoping for something like Detroit, but smaller, no, it's not like that. I don't think anyone will hate on you for asking for Halal, but, I think more than a few won't know what it means.
