I know of several homeschooled kids who are well rounded, college educated adults but, their parents were educated, well rounded adults themselves and saw to it that they were involved in outside activities. They all scored very well on college entrance exams, had scholarships, etc. So, it is not a "fringe" thing, in my mind. But, if there is no oversight, it will be rampant with abuse and I have seen it used too often as an excuse for shielding neglect, abuse and death......and you are right, goldengrain, some people should never have reproduced.
