Out of surgery and responding to doctors - incredible!!!! Talk about medical miracles, after hearing she was dead. Wow!

RIP to that poor little boy. Most tragic of the entire thing. Judge John Roll is now labeled as deceased as well.

Folks, this shooting is just horrible, but please don't use it as an excuse to engage in any flame wars. Keep your insults and name calling to yourselves and off the forum. Thanks.

I hope she recovers enough to resume her service in the House. She is my favorite AZ politician by a country mile - maybe the only honorable one left in this state. I see her as a senator or even a presidential candidate of the future. It would be a tragedy for AZ and the United States to lose her.

But sadly at least 6 were (reportedly) killed including 9 year old! 5 more critical. It is a tragedy to lose any life. Total 18 shot. Hopefully the rest will have the medical recovery!

What a tradgedy for Tucson and Arizona. It could have been much worse--thank God it wasn't--but my heart goes out to the families of those who passed away. Things like this should never happen.

I don't appreciate those who have tried to make this political. It's too soon and there is too little information. Thanks Mods for keeping it on track.

I hope the pathetic loser who did this gets the maximum punishment. Really, even that won't be enough.

To hear that a child was also killed in this senseless tragedy is definitely very disgusting.

You can't blame Arizona politics for this. These kinds of atrocities can happen anywhere.

Well, apparently NPR and other outlets were incorrect in their early reports. Others ARE dead. It is indeed a tragedy. Prayers for the recovery of Congresswoman Giffords and the others.
