Anyway who is responsible doesn't mean much to the people who are dead. Thats why we make laws to prevent deaths from happening. Example: drinking and driving.

OK, let's all hang the founding fathers for giving us the 2nd Amendment. Let's blame them! They placed the gun in the shooter's hands. They wispered into the killer's ear with a ghostly voice saying "pull the trigger!"

I do agree that voters should examine with a critical eye who they have voted for and what their elected officials have done in office. However, one could have added 1,000 additional laws to the books, but the shooter would have still killed. Murderers kill and written laws will not stop them.

In this case Sheriff Dupnik tried to blame Republicans and conservative media. Turns out his accusations were way off base. Now the voters in Pima County should use their critical eye to examine their previous votes.

That the shooter "responded to vitriol" and "anger, hate and bigotry". He then suggested that Arizona has "become sort of the capital" of that and "the mecca for prejudice and bigotry".

Turns out the shooter did not "responded to vitriol" and "anger, hate and bigotry", other than perhaps his own in his own confused mind. And the idea that Arizona is "the capital" and "mecca" for "prejudice and bigotry" is childish. There are several southern states that win that award before any other. From there we can argue (and I'd argue that Arizona is toward the bottom of that list) but to suggest Arizona is #1 or near #1 is ignorant.

Ritchie, if you look upthread, (post #89) there's a quote from the KGUN website that explains the source of the name. Perhaps you missed it.

Again, back to topic. The call letters of that station predated by decades the issues the sheriff was referring to. I don't think he had them in mind.

As much as I agree that there's too much polarization and nasty talk out there in the world, this man only listened to the voices in his head. As for the "target and crosshairs" conversation, in 2004 the Dems put out a book called "Red states" that had crosshairs on various & sundry targets. The Prez famously said in one speech, "if they bring a knife to a fight, we'll bring a gun." People use that kind of rhetoric on both sides of the aisle. People need to tone it down. But this guy gave NO indication in any of his rambling websites that he thought ANY of them to be worthy of his time and attention. So we need to stop pointing fingers, and the media owes a lot of people an apology. Too many jumped on the "news" with their guesses, and a lot of people got exercised by jumping to the wrong conclusions.
