Though I'm not the Streisand fan I once was I did enjoy that movie.
When I visited Tucson in '06 I was taking pics at City Hall when I realized that was where "Esther and John Norman's" wedding took place. Too much!
Question:
Did you live in Tucson at that time? Where else did they film? What do you recall? DETAILS!

Default A Star is Born

I remember going to Tempe March 20,1976 when they were filming the concert scenes for the movie. There were a number of musicians with Peter Frampton being the headliner, and yes Kris & Barbra did perform. I remember leaving Tucson at 4am because filming stared at 8am. I still have the ticket stub, the cost for the show was $3.50 & all seats were General admission. It was a fun day!

Default A Star Is Born Concert

An excellent show, it was my first true rock concert attended at age 15. Over the years I've rarely met anyone that attended. I put together a fanpage on Facebook and would invite others to visit. Hoping a few people might have some memorabilia, pictures, or memories to share. If you go back to the beginning of the posts, there is a copy of my ticket stub and the disclaimer to members of the audience. Cool to find others that remember that crazy event!

I was just thinking of that concert a while ago. It was wild.
Getting up at 5am, friends picking me up, indulging in some early AM smoke and off to Sun Devil Stadium for the day. The heat of the day didn't mix well with some concert goers, witnessing one toss his "intake" of the day under the stadium seats near the rest rooms. I believe the Doobie Brothers were originally scheduled to headline but backed out for some reason and Mr Frampton was gracious enough to fill in. I also believe the LA Jets was a discovery of Ms Streisand (?).
Finally got home about 4:30pm all sunburned. Funny thing is I've never seen the movie. Perhaps someday...

Good times, good times.

Default Looked for references to this show for many years...

Great to hear of others that remember this excellent concert. Tempe's early day on the green. This Facebook page was a try at giving the show wider recognition (at least for the few of us that remember it personally). I'd welcome even a cool snapshot or two if you have one to share, but suspect many cameras were confiscated at the gates. Well, it's mostly a place to share stories and recollections...

Needless to say the Star Is Born concert had a big influence on me as a teenage kid. The beginning of my concert career which has gone over 300+ shows by now. Still find it frustrating that an event like ASIB was so well covered but ignored to focus on the movie, which featured only flashes of the actual show.
