What about Tucson sucks? Altho' I praise your next statement as I love this city too much to have more people moving here.

In Tucson the public buses are free to ride anywhere. What other cities offer that option?

I've lived in many cities and this is the friendliest city I've ever lived in, the friendliness is everywhere, very refreshing after 22 years in Las Vegas with the coldest, most unfriendly people I've encountered in this country.

Don't worry, most sane people don't live in dumpsters! I think Oscar the grouch lived in a trash can?

Here's an update from my post from 2020.
I moved to Oro Valley in 2022. I bought a condo off of Oracle and Pusch View. I love it. I love the scenery and the sunshine nearly evreyday. I'm literally 1/2 mile to the Canada Del Oro "The Loop" and I ride my bike almost daily in the warm months. I kept my Prescott place. I am actually in Prescott for the next few months. I go where I can rent my place out. I have a hard time renting out my place in Prescott during the winter months so I come here while I rent out my Oro Valley place. I love both places. I just hate the moving part.

Oro Valley, to me, spells car dependency! In my 74 years I've always managed to live a rather urban lifestyle. It's what you are used to.

My cousin and wife have always lived a suburban life style, so when they moved to Tucson, it didn't surprise me they ended up in Green Valley, car dependent.

If you ride a bicycle, The Loop runs through a lot of Oro Valley. I live half a mile from it and it is the reason why I bought that condo. From The Loop, you can get to just about anywhere. People ride those e-bikes on The Loop also. So, not necessarily car dependent, that is if you like to bike/walk/e-bike.

Default What other areas did you investigate

Did you look in other areas of Tucson besides Oro Valley? What issues/concerns did you find in other areas of TUC?

I'm a retiree in a VERY deep red rural area of AZ south of Prescott. I'm looking to move near a college or university where the demographics will be younger and more liberal, progressive. Also I want a more vibrant art scene both as an observer and a participant. I'm also a vet so I want to be near the Southern AZ VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS.)
Do you have any advice?
