My friend, neighbor, and long time resident of Green Valley, Elfriede Cooper, passed away 2/27/2024. Her funeral was in Colby, KS 3/2/2024. This is my way of remembering her. Elfriede had an amazing green thumb. Her gardens were always beautiful. I don't know if it was her gardening skill, or the energy she put out that the plants loved so much and responded so well to. Maybe it was some of both. I will certainly miss Elfriede, but I am glad she is at peace and with God now. What better place to be??? Let's take a walk through Elfriede's garden, shall we?

I think... could be wrong that the blue flowers that were all over the place are some variety of Blue Bell. They do very well during the winter in Lake Havasu but need a little water.

That is really a beautiful Sonoran desert garden!!

What a beautiful tribute and remembrance this is for your friend, Elfriede. She sounds like a lovely woman and there is so much joy in her garden. As Threestep2 said, she will live on in her flowers. Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks for watching Walt! As for the blue flowers, I just compared those in my video with some online examples, so by no means was my identification process scientific. You are probably right about bluebells. Glad you enjoyed the garden tour!

Thank you Wildflowers27! I felt I had to do something for her, and I remembered I had that garden video. If she had free time, she was out in the garden for hours and hours. Yes, she will live on in her flowers and the Indian Fig Prickly Pear she gave me a start for. Every time I look at it, I think of her.

Nancy and Elfriede were similar in that they seemed scary if you did not know them (Elfriede was a tough German woman), but if you got to know them, they were both as sweet as could be!!! I am glad your wife liked the "Nancy" part of the video!
