I'm back in Tucson for awhile staying with my lady friend who lives on the east side of town. We decided to go out for supper, to a place that I consider one of the best soup and salad bar restaurants - Sweet Tomatoes. They shut down in early 2020 as a casualty of the Covid era. The restaurant site on Broadway near Wilmot never got re-leased or occupied by anyone else, and I guess the chain was able to find funding to start up again.

We arrived at around 5 pm, with a line outside of about 30 people ahead of us. We waited 30-40 minutes to get in, but once inside the salad serving line was wide open and we were seated as soon as we got past the register. Looks like they have almost the same selection of salads, soups, pastas, bakery items and desserts as before.

Cost for dinner was about $14 per adult, a bit more than 4 years ago but a bargain compared to what almost any other restaurant option would cost. No wonder they have such a line out the door. Overall I was pleased and am glad they are back.

This is awesome news! I used to go to the one in Phoenix when I lived there.

I hope the Tucson store does well and more locations open. The closest to me was in Kennesaw, GA, so I did not go there often, but it was one of my favorite places to eat. Would love to have one here where I live.

Think about how many dirty hands and fingers touch those communal serving spoons, forks, tongs before you touch them.

No one is going to look at anyone twice for wearing some simple gloves while using the serving utensils.

Your choice.

This is what we did. No problem, or you can make a quick trip to wash hands before and after eating if you don't have disposable gloves.

Wash your hands before eating? Oh, my gosh. That is too much... LOL...

Exposure to germs can strengthen your immune system. Having just read Silent Spring by Rachel Carson, I don't trust any food today free of chemicals. That should be more of a worry!

Having traveled the world, and eating street food in India, Mexico, Nepal, China, I never got sick from eating street food.

You need to put a bigger scare in me than dirty hands and fingers!

We live in a world today, where people concentrate too much on a leaf, and overlook the tree and forest.
