New Member but longtime Tucson resident

I'm new here on the forum but have lived in Tucson since 1969. Been a butcher and electrician and I enjoy doing all my own mechanic work on 2 cars, a truck, a Jeep and a Sprinter motorhome. 3 are diesels which I also love.

I also love swamp coolers and I have 1 on the house, 2 on my garage/shop, 1 on the back porch, 1 in my outdoor blacksmith shop and 3 portables. I consider myself a swamp cooler expert and have worked on them for over 50 years. We love the cool, moist air they provide during the dry months, but we do have AC on the house for July and August.

Today we were eating lunch at Old Peking on Speedway and I was telling the waitress how it used to be in a different building right close to Tucson Blvd before they widened Speedway and you had to diagonal park in front right off Speedway. If you had a long car you would drive a wheel up onto the sidewalk so your back end wouldn't stick out on Speedway.
Anyone remember that?

When we moved here we lived between Broadway and 22nd St East of Swan. We didn't have a lot of money and no car, we used to walk to Lucky's and buy a weeks worth of groceries and take a taxi home. The taxi bill was 90 cents and my mom would give the driver a dollar and say "keep the change". I still live central not far from there.
