I met students, in his governments classes at Tyler Junior College who stated, he was "blind" used braille books as well as some special type equipment to teach his classes. Yes, he was blind but not deaf, he knew when students would try to sneak in late to his class, nope, that did not work.

Also, on his radio show, where he reported the weather forecasts, early in the mornings, twice between 6 and 8 A.M he would take two or three call-in requests from listeners who were inquiring the weather conditions is various parts of the state and country and he had some type of equipment where he would give the forecast for wherever they were headed.

Later, I found out, the radio station KTBB had hooked up with his home equipment, where he would be available during severe weather conditions. All this was just amazing to me, how he could possibly "do" all this blind.

I confirmed "for myself," accidentally, "how blind" he actually is. I had met him in a grocery store, shopping with his wife. He was walking behind his wife and her shopping basket, with his hand on her shoulder, for his guidance. He could only move, when she moved, he would "stare off" not focusing on anything, of course listening intently.

I couldn't resist myself, being OCD, as I am, lol, an "excuse" or "card" I "pull" often, so I complimented him on all the years I enjoyed his broadcasts, by the way, that were above accuracy most of the time.

There will be "no charge" for this post. Actually, I should have added this when I first posted, so others, would really understand who "remarkable" his life has been. I was just lazy, as usual.
