Thank you…! I grew up in Ponce, Puerto Rico. I usually fly via JetBlue from JFK direct flight into PSE.
JetBlue has several flights throughout the day JFK - SJU.
Sadly, AA doesn’t fly direct from JFK to SJU. However, an option in the past has been flying out of LGA (love the airport) to MIA. Then, flying to SJU.
If you want to fly out of JFK, consider flying Delta who has a nonstop JFK-SJU. They have an excellent in-flight product and service and are quite an underrated airline in Puerto Rico.
Just booked direct flight from JAX in December. Frontier…..here goes nothing. There’s an upcharge for everything, but still a better deal than the big boys. $975. RT for 2.
One of the reasons I'd love to move back to the Piedmont in order to afford more frequency. Currently looking at over 1k a head for a family of 3 (TX city pair), banker hour departure/arrivals. I can fly to Europe for less.
The usual LCC "fall of Saigon" evac nonsense is still available though. 400 RT per head for 24 hour+ itineraries across two redeyes and 15 hour layover clownshow. But at that point I've told my folks, it's just not meant to be.
It's a small sacrifice, they're on their last decade of medical independence on this planet, so I have to get there. The diaspora has been a tragedy for us all, and I'll never get that time back. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.
From PHX seems like Spirit and Frontier are the only reasonably priced options to BQN nowadays. United's fares are usually crazy, and JetBlue doesn't show up on Kayak or Google Flights at all due to the schedule not being timed for a connection. You're better off flying to SJU on and booking a separate ticket to MAZ on Cape Air. I just wish Delta would fly to BQN from either ATL or JFK and offer more reasonable fares than United.
