I will be heading to St. Croix next month and just sold off all my laptops. I am not ready to buy a new one, but need to be able to access e-mail while I am away. I thought I would get a data plan for my blackberry and that would work.
My wife's family is on AT&T and they get spotty coverage for voice, but I am on T-mobile and the T-mobile map looks good for voice, but then has 'partner' coverage for data. Does anyone know if getting data service for t-mobile is usable?
I was in St Croix last year and ATT and Sprint (I think) worked best. I had ATT and had coverage on most of the island, but there were spotty parts. One of my friends took their TMobile, and didn't have any coverage and said their phone was on roaming during the trip. After a few days of seeing their phone on roaming, they just turned it off.
I didn't think T-mobile had roaming. That was one of the reasons I got it! I've had it for about 4 years now and never had roaming charges. It works fine in PR but I don't know about St. Croix.
