Has anyone recently filed a PUA claim in NJ that UI allowed to be back dated to week ending 4/4? Ex. They only became aware they could file a PUA claim yet had no W2 employment since early 2019 or other earnings. I was curious to know if person filed today if claim would be dated today or if NJ is still allowing to backdate for those qualifying for the other weeks they would be eligible for prior to today.
Not sure this qualifies as recent, but I applied May 24 and only got access to that week forward, no retroactive weeks available. With persistence I got through via phone today, and spoke to a kind person who escalated my info to a claims specialist, and said to expect a call this week sometime. My 1st question was about the backdating (unemployment before May 24th), and my 2nd question was another issue others may encounter. Will report back here or in another appropriate thread with any news.

same for me accept i can't even get through on the phone.
i emailed them weeks ago about back dating but never heard back
Didn't get that call. I'll be calling in again Monday to try and get help with backdating, as I just found out my family's financial situation is not what I thought. Best of luck everybody.
Minor update, hopefully useful info for someone. Didn't get through yesterday, several tries. Today I called a LOT, and actually spoke with 2 people quickly... If you get an automated message telling you the wait time, with the option to input your number and get a callback, they really do call.
Person A was tremendously helpful and knowledgeable. They entered my specific back pay info with dates for the escalation team (I'm not sure the person last week did that). They said it takes a minimum of 7 business days for the escalation to be processed, and that they might call if they have questions, from an unknown or blocked number.
Person B was also super helpful, I kept that call really short knowing other folks need to reach them. They confirmed what Person A said, noted that Person A entered my escalation info correctly, and reiterated the minimum 7 business days thing, further explaining that business days means "not including weekends or holidays" haha.
So I'll check back here when there's news, in about 7 business days or so.
By the way, I've never gotten through by just calling the number, which always gave me a "call back tomorrow" message. I only ever reached anyone after hearing that message, then picking a self-service option to listen to info about UI, and then pressing 0 to speak with someone. I don't know if that process helps, and many times it also ended in some version of "no one can help you at this time, goodbye", but it is the process that resulted in talking to a human, for me.
Also, both calls were from one of the Call Center numbers, from a different area in NJ

Reason: added info about the numbers they called / might call from
djohnslaw, I found this list on another site. Also saw them on the NJ DOL site somewhere, it's all a blur anymore
"To try and speak to a live representative around your claim you can try the following numbers (but expect long hold times)
• North Jersey: 201-601-4100
• Central Jersey: 732-761-2020
• Southern Jersey: 856-507-2340"
I called the South number, and the callbacks I received were from the Central number
