Yesterday I happened to drive by our local "Park & Ride" lot which used to be packed by 7:30-8am on weekdays with bus commuters. There are 265 parking spaces. There was one car in it at 9am, and the woman was still in the car on the phone.

The 3 commuter lots in my town in north NJ are less than 5% full now. My wife used to take the train every day. She has not been in her office since March 1. We will not be buying parking passes for the train lot this year.

I live in southern Ct. Rode train to NYC (New Haven line) starting around February, 2017 to mid March, 2020.

Our covid task force last mentioned any potential of returning to work vs wfh several months ago. At the earliest, I could see us having to spend a week/month at work, starting perhaps Q3 or Q4 2021. Even that seems far less likely than a few months ago.

Metro North foresees a large % drop in ridership for SEVERAL years now. Last I read, the NY line is doing 20% of the volume it did 12 months ago.

Here's a photo of the entrance hall to the main train station in Chemnitz, Germany last Saturday at 10 am. There were a few people out on the train boarding platforms, but not more than a dozen or so. Normally this is a busy place on weekends when people take trips to the nearest bigger cities (Dresden or Leipzig) which are a 1 hour or so train trip.
