Are cities dominated by one-way streets better than those dominated by streets that run both directions?

Just some food for thought

What I've noticed with Houston is that, it's mostly two way streets. Completely dominated by two way streets, besides in downtown, nearly every street in downtown is one way. That's the only exception.

Same thing for San Antonio and Austin.

I personally favor two way streets, it's far easier not making a mistake and going around like a gypsy when a mistake is made. Lol.

I voted for cities dominated by one way streets, especially any city that has one way streets downtown, it always feels safer to cross the street on a one way street than 2.

One-ways!
They make traffic flow quicker and more efficiently.
Most of the streets here are one-way and the majority of two-way streets have the opposing sides divided by neutral grounds making them more like 2 one-ways next to each other in opposing directions

Totally depends on the context...

Sometimes one-way streets can be much less pedestrian and bike friendly than two way boulevards.

In very urban environments they definitely work, though.

The best thing I like about the Texas cities is that they're two way outside of downtown. Makes traveling and U-Turning quite easy. Or my friend Dennis, it makes driving like a maniac more fun for him... LOL.

San Francisco has many one way streets and it is irritating and a mess. You are ready to turn to get to your destinbation which is right around the corner but aginst traffic, and you must go all the way around. really annying.

Funny story about SF and one-way streets, recently on travel we were driving back into the city from Candlestick point and having dinner - traffic was a nightmare so we decided to park and walk the rest of the way. We only had printed driving directions; so we continued to follow them to the retaurant on foot. Well we walked a mile to realize the restarant was basically right next door to the parking garage. We followed the one-way street driving directions in the rain

And I should know better the city I live in is basically all one way; even outside the core - two way streets actually confuse me in cities; especially their cores - but apparently both can...
