We did some exploration looking for decent river access and found this nice beach in Washougal called Cottonwood Beach. Nice and warm out right now. The water feels great.

Went paddle boarding earlier in the day near Government Island in Camas. What a clear and beautiful day!

Don't forget to bring the boards and check out Stevenson community and waters during the free County Fair. 14-17 August.

I think might like some of the places on Washougal River Road. Go up that road and there are a ton of places to stop, hangout, swim, etc....

A cool one is "Mile 8" it has a rope swing and a bunch of other fun stuff. It can be pretty crowded sometimes.

It also has a unique vibe to it, so you may or may not like it. I think it is pretty fun.

Also check out the fish hatchery on evergeen highway - it's nice to walk through there.

Thanks, Orca. I was thinking about exploring there. Is that near the Sandy Swimming Hole here?

Yikes, that is where the wacko drove over the German tourists and killed them a couple weeks ago.

I think the 'Hatchery referred to is under the 205 bridge on Evergreen Highway,

But there are other WSDWF Hatcheries in Skamania County (North Fork of Washougal R (just beyond Merchantile) has a small hatchery, as does Willard, WA - fish research center). A very nice hatchery and summer gardens at the Oregon side of Bonneville Dam.

The Sandy Swimming Hole is on N Shepherd Road, I am referring to spots along Washougal River Road.

I've never been to the Sandy Swimming Hole, but yes I heard that some tourists were run over there which is pretty crazy.

Yes that is the fish hatchery - it has a lot of trails and I've ridden my bike through them many times as well so if you like to bike that is a fun spot.

Yeah, we used to go to Cottonwood via my dad's boat when I was a kid. It's a nice spot.
