Took a drive up the Columbia yesterday on the Washington side then crossed over Bridge of the Gods on the way to Hood River. This section of Washington will never cease to amaze me with it's natural beauty. Just gorgeous out with amazing views at Cape Horn. We didn't have long to stop, but I snapped a few pictures along the way. Then I got to visit Big Winds board shop in Hood River to check out the gear. That is really a windsurfing, kiteboarding, SUP downwinding mecca there. What a fun little town.

Yup, that is home
https://www.city-data.com/forum/membe...cape-horn.html

Your Engineering or Marketing focused kids could look into summer / PT jobs at several board design firms in the Gorge (as well as Drone / robotics) that support Insitu. Here is a very helpful group to align with and attend events Welcome! - Gorge Technology Alliance
CC in Hood River and The Dalles for early (inexpensive) college.

There are even a few cottage industries in North Bonneville (at least one board manf factory) + others. (Gorge Delights - Dried Fruit bars) + Manf companies (Silver Star does cabinets for Hospitals + Hudson News (stores at airports across the USA))

Then you will have an excuse to have a second home / cabin near HR, WS, Stevenson. We built several small homes there for coworkers. Underwood, WA has great views (and property WAS $30k... NOW $300k).

Yes, its awesome to see more tech coming to the region. I remember when Google decided to join in on it. Prices have really shot up. It seems like summer is prime time and the town has lots of visitors. We stayed in a VRBO there ~ 5 years ago and the locals said they did this as a side business - bought homes and rented them out to folks like us. I would imagine that is harder to do now with the increase in values.

Nice Derek! Probably passed you. Took a friend for the circuit up to Cape Horn then over the Bridge of the Gods, up to Hood River, across the bridge, then grab dinner and the sunset at Skamania Lodge.
