I know that things are moving towards fall/winter there and it’s getting cooler and wetter, but are these temps normal for this time of the year for this area? 40s at night when it’s only the end of September, isn’t it more like late fall/winter low?

This is a big anomaly and it's all over the news. Hasn't happened for 30+ years. I think you can check this for yourselves with a quick Google search.

Ok. I just don’t know enough to understand it’s an anomaly.

My Tomatoes and Rhubarb are none too happy.

This weather is tough on fruit and veggie growers trying to ripen to harvest, and all of us getting ready for winter (firewood, roof repairs, driveway gravel... ). From too hot, to too cold in less than a week.

Significant burden (lost annual income) to work all yr and lose your crop to a cool and wet spell. (Like prairie hail storms).

For most folks it just means putting on a coat, or adjusting the thermostat, and doing some indoor hobbies / or head to the library.

Too bad to be missing the usual great Sept / Oct orange sunsets at the Oregon Coast.

I was thinking it’s strange, especially looking at MntSurfer’s pictures, where everything is still green, not even fall colors.

So, what the normal high/low precipitation would look like for this time?

'Normal...' about 10F higher (for highs and lows)
Night temps should be above 50F, Days below 70F

The rainy season starts around mid October, this year it started a month earlier. At least it will be sunny in the next few days although cold.

We just had lightning, thunder and hail in our backyard. We discovered it on our way home from a long walk in Salmon Creek where I was too warm dressed in a sweater, shorts and flip flops.

Before the storm wishing I would have left the sweater behind:
