Does anyone know what is being built on 136th and Leroy Hagen drive, across from the dept. of Motor Vehicles? They have cleared and excavated a huge piece of property.

Probably more offices that'll sit empty for the following 5 years because rent'll be so high nobody can afford to be in them. South of Leroy Haagen will be the new Legacy ALC, since the district now finally has enough funding that they can move it out of the old portables behind Evergreen's football pitch and into a real campus.

They cleared the property about a month ago IIRC. I first noticed it on a bike run back to my mom's place from Winco looking past the houses on NE 131st.

Well that doesn't make any financial sense.

They will be occupied and occupied fast. The rent is high because so many people want it and can afford it.

Another factor contributing to the high rent is property taxes to fund the overpaid teachers you're referring to.

Speaking of new buildings. anyone know what the big new building is at the eastern end of Mill Plain next to the Lowes and across the street from the Clark College branch? Looks like a giant car dealership building or something. I haven't seen any business names go up there yet. But it's a big place.

No, that is going to be located at the big new development with the turning circle that is located at the corner of 192nd and highway 14. They haven't broken ground yet. https://www.columbian.com/news/2019/...-camas-border/

Mixing high density residential with commercial builds a lot of animosity and can bring liability / dangers and traffic snarls. Then the majority (tenants) will turn against the pre-existing industries and make life all kids of miserable. Happens all the time near airports! (, sure miss Evergreen Field and Wally's antique antics )

Awesome. Just what that part of town needs most. You have to wonder what kind of shrooms they're doing at City Hall sometimes.

Not always. Recall how long the offices by Tektronix sat empty after they were built in the mid 90s. (See, I'm old enough that I still refer to "Tech Center" as "Tektronix" or "Jack Murdock Park".) Or a closer example, the complex between Spectrum and Winco. Those sat vacant for years and I still don't think they're completely occupied.

If you build it, they won't always come right away.
