So, we've lived here for three years just easy of 'Orchard Area of Concerned Citizens.' Why are they so concerned anyway? Does anyone actually know what the heck that means beyond wild guesses or simply that people do dumb stuff...? So, they're concerned.

I tried finding it online and all I could find were jokes about it. For example, the Little Ceasar's guy on the corner waving his sign was making them very nervous and concerned.

Seriously, who thought up such a dorky name to begin with? And why on earth would they ever adopt it as some sort of official designation? Inquiring minds must know.

I'm not too far from you in Brush Prairie and I got nothing.

We have all kinds of funny names but that one takes the cake.

Have you seen this site?

Its very interesting, I always wondered what Fourth Plain meant, sounded very Sci-Fi "now entereing the Fourth Plain" LOL

"Orchards: It was formerly called Fourth Plain. When the Hudson’s Bay Co. First occupied Fort Vancouver, they numbered their grazing plains consecutively, 1-6, from their headquarters. The Orchards area was in the fourth plain. The residents of the area wanted a name that would identify them alone. There were great tracts of fruit trees there, so they chose the name Orchards in 1904."

I don't know about Vancouver, but Concerned Citizens is a non-profit social service agency started in Forks because there was nothing available to help developmentally delayed children. It was a true grassroots group & it now serves the developmentally delayed & senior communities in Clallam & Jefferson Counties. It is still called Concerned Citizens.
