Toronto and Vancouver can be interchangeable depending on your lifestyle.
Taxation:
1. Seattle (lowest)
2. Vancouver
3. Toronto
Ease of finding a job: (What, any job, or a good job that supports the city's cost?)
I can't comment on which is better, Seattle or Toronto, but Vancouver is undoubtedly at the bottom of the list. Van is not a city for career people.
Youth Education:
1. Toronto
2. Vancouver
3. Seattle
Best Urban Environment:
1. Vancouver
2. Toronto
3. Seattle
This is my own opinion. Toronto is definitely more urban, but Vancouver's urban environment feels much more developed and more inviting. Better integration between residential, commercial and recreational environments. Toronto, although more cosmopolitan, and having the better skyline - still has many old parking lots and run down districts within the downtown core. Also, Toronto is not well connected to the waterfront areas. Seattle's downtown is very similar.
Hiral, when you say a ''job''...do you mean just that..a ''job''? OR do you mean a career? If you are just talking about any type of job , such as wharehouse or labourer, the jobs are pretty scarce and low paying in Vancouver. Overall, i get the general impression that even the good paying trades type of jobs (mechanic, machinist, carpet installer, etc) are paid lower hourly rates then ontario and alberta. A paycheque of $15-18 per hour here really sucks and your bills begin to suffer after you paid your rent/mortgage, weekly groceries, paid for a tank of gas and all your monthly bills including cell phone service, tv & internet etc. You would have to be mentally and financially prepared to do without of many things such as paid sporting events, $13-14 movie tickets, occasional fine dining and so on. Anyways, just something to think about...look at how much you need to earn in either city and think wisely if you can afford to live the lifestyle you enjoy.
