For some strange reason I get a bad feeling about the progress of this project. The whole project is so lagging and there is almost no communication with the public in terms of progress. I remembered they said the Rice South Bound on ramp was going to be closed from June 2010 until December 2010 and now it is almost March and it is not even near putting the on ramp back together. They said the Rice North bound off ramp was going to be closed for 2 weeks, it is now almost 6 weeks and I dont even know what is going on. I have been on Oxnardnews.org all the time to see what is happening and they do not update anything on there. The last update was from 1/14/11. I tried to drive by and look to see if they would just at least put the ramps back so it would alleviate the congestion and detour BS. I never see these people work, they never work at night or the weekends. This project is almost $80 million and they must got a really bad company for the bid. Everytime I drive by the project next to Camarillo Airport they are working on the new Springville exit day and night, I was like wtf is wrong with the city of Oxnard and they ability to do anything right. They have $80 million from local, state, and federal funding and they can't even pick an efficient construction firm ? Why didn't they let Cal Trans get the bid and it would have still been faster.

Can someone fill me in on this ? Thanks

Umm, I am seeing a lot of roadwork when I drive through this area daily....not sure what time you are driving through there but I just passed through there tonight. They recently brought the lanes over and last week, I saw trucks out there.

Would say it probably has more to do with Caltrans than the City of Oxnard, who has been waiting for this changeover so that State Route 1 (PCH) can be moved from Oxnard Blvd. to Rice. The City, from what I hear, has plans to upgrade and beautify Oxnard Blvd., but cannot do anything until Caltrans relinquishes the street to the City. And that happens when Caltrans takes over Rice. Caltrans has been promising the street back to the City for a while now.
