I have a friend in his 60's that lives in a senior mobile park home, he does own his home not rent. His youngest son who is in his mid 20's lives with him and is a quiet nice guy.A neighbor reported this and now it looks like the son may have to move so I have a question.Does the Fair Housing Act not apply here in California as unless I miss understand it doesn't it say that at least one person living in 55+community must be 55 or older and others in the household must be over 18 ?

I do not live in such a place so I really do not know but am trying to help as my friend is very stressed as his son does not make enough to live on his own yet and he is retired so does not have extra income to help him nor should he be expected too as his son is old enough to be on his own.The cost of living is just so expensive here that many young people have a difficult time getting established on their own Thanks for any advice!

In many 55+ communities it says people under 55 can only stay a few days; it's like an HOA.

Have you actually looked at the Fair Housing Act in regard to seniors?

Therefore, housing that satisfies the legal definition of senior housing or housing for older persons described above, can legally exclude families with children.
