If Oxnard Airport offered non stop flights to Vegas, Phoenix, Seattle, Denver, etc. and the fares were comparable to LAX would you fly out of there instead of LAX? Thanks

In almost every case I'd say yes. Exception: If I live at the far east side of the SFV and I have an early Sunday morning flight and someone is dropping me off. But if there's traffic OR if I have to park at Parking lot C or Parking lot B, OR if I live in the west SFV or west of there, then Oxnard is probably better.

The other thing to think about is BUR airport. For the sake of this question, I am going to assume the BUR is prohibitively expensive and my only two choices are OXR and LAX.

(You don't happen to be a vice president at Southwest Airlines do you?)

I fly from Burbank if I fly within the American West since its literally a 5 minute drive from my house in North Hollywood, or a 20 minute walk. Either way, still way more convenient than going out all the way to Oxnard to fly. If I lived in the far west of the SFV (Woodland Hills/West Hills), I'd consider Oxnard but I'd most likely still fly from Burbank.

Simi Valley, that may be a different story altogether. Ventura County does need its own hub though.

Yeah, I was gonna put West SFV, but didn't know if that would fit in the title. I really mean Balboa and exits west. Ironically, I lived in Burbank for 9 years and never once flew outta there, fares were always too high. I even from from Ontario and JW once.

My op is really aimed at those who have to fly outta LAX and their awful commute; if Oxnard offered similar situations, i.e non stops and comparable fares, would they choose that instead of flying outta LAX.

No Way! I live in Encino and would never think of flying out of oxnard to fly to vegas or phoenix. Burbank is only 12 miles away from Encino. Oxnard is 45 miles. LAX is 18 miles.

If I lived in Thousand Oaks I would definatley fly out of Oxnard.

People who live near the Balboa exit are not considered far West Valley. From the Balboa exit to Oxnard is 45 miles. Burbank is only 10 miles from the Balboa exit. LAX is 18 miles from the Balboa exit.

Right, but the question was strictly a comparison of LAX and Oxnard. Adding BUR to the comparison is a completely different question. Besides, much of the day it would be faster (traffic), cheaper (parking), and less hassle (parking and passenger drop off, no shuttle bus hassles) to use to Oxnard than it would be to LAX.

From most of the Valley LAX is OK.
If I lived in Agoura or Camarillo (ie in a distant valley) then yes.
But why ruin Oxnard?

Considering I lived in Camarillo, Simi, and T.O., Oxnard would have been great! BUR isn't terrible though. And I was lucky that my inlaws lived 5 min from Long Beach airport. I do agree with the "why ruin Oxnard" comment. It'd muck up the 101 between the grade and Oxnard worse than it already is too. That is, if it was an airport similar to Burbank in volume.
