Hi,

Can someone tell me how kids are expected to get to school in Montpelier if there is no school bus service? This is totally new to me and was wondering how others do this, especially if parent/parents leave for work before child goes to school?

Thanks for the help.

You either have to drive them, they walk or you ask permission to drop them off at a close bus stop.

We always walked to school when I was growing up. Anything up to a mile was fair game. IIRC, the girls often walked in packs or three or more. (Of course it was uphill both ways, and since this was before global warming, it was usually below zero... )

I see an opening for someone to make a little pocket change picking up and commuting school kids.

It was also before child predators and aggressive drug dealers.

I can just see it. Whoever did that would be watched like a hawk.

The insurance required on this kind of work would leave VERY LITTLE "pocket change".

Newer drug dealers are more openly brazen than those in the past.

Those "Predators" have been around forever.
It's just that there were assumptions that they were runaways, or unsolved mysteries.
Now with modern forensics, enhanced communications and more detailed record keeping/sharing with law enforcement, there are more cases solved.

OOOOH, watched like a hawk?

SERIOUSLY?

YA THINK?

Be careful Grandma does not drive off with little Johnny, Suzy, Brittany and the other kids in rout to class!

It all depends on how it's structured.

As a paid and licensed transportation business with an operating authority, yes, the insurance would be pricy but not impossible.

As a small community ride share, no.
