ive been watching the doom mods for over three years and seen houndreds of them or they call them wods. i just got a computer and im going to try them out.
theres a cool mod that is pretty much like a new game except the enemys are 2d, its called dawn of reality . the doom engine was upgraded so much its a new engine
theres multiplayer doom 2 called zandronum, its not as nice as gzdoom though. people will be playing doom 4 with muliplayer soon
But... it's a pseudo-3D engine from over twenty years ago. Great at the time but well past its prime. I mean, I was creating vastly more detailed and flexible maps (where you could actually walk underneath things, for instance) in 2000-2002 for Unreal Tournament.
Anyway, do you have some links you can share with us?
Try some of them out, there's a few that are pretty amazing. I'm currently playing through a Doom wad called Threshold of Pain.
However, avoid the "Terry Wads" like a plague. Try to look at some of the user reviews before downloading them to make sure it's not a Terry Wad.
