In an interesting twist from VW's acquisition/merger with Navistar, VW acquired the rights to the 'Scout' name and intends to produce a new Scout just for the US market. It appears they intend this to be an entirely EV platform.

It will be interesting to see if VW can pull this off. The IH Scout is considered the grandaddy to the Ford Bronco and Chevy blazer. It was stupid simple, bare bones and designed to go offroad. I wonder if they are going to stick to that heritage and compete head to head with the wildly popular newly redesigned Bronco.
I would be interested in an off road worthy EV Scout- There are tons of ORV trails and camping/hunting/fishing spots all around me. Having a simple but rugged EV that could pull double duty as an in-town commuter and a weekend 'throw the dogs in the back / kayak on top' EV would be awesome!
