Is it legal to post private property signs on the grass between the sidewalk and street. Our neighbors have 4 big ones in a 10 foot space, and are rather hostile about passersby. They like calling the police on the neighbors. I'm just wondering if there's a way to confirm that this is public property. TIA!

Public space. Are people not picking up after their dogs? Are you sure they are not city signs?

look at the legal plot for your house. I believe that the space between the sidewalk and street is city property. That will be clear from the legal description of your house.
