We're currently at 8cm compared to a normal of 34cm for the whole of December, but there's only ~1cm forecast between now and Christmas, so it's looking like a well below normal month. Maybe the final 6 days of December bump things up a bit? But it probably won't be enough to bring us to the historical average.

Anchorage is now just shy of 75" of snowfall for this season, with 26" snow cover currently.

Got 4cm of wet snow this morning. I guess we did manage to beat November after all. This might be it for the month though, next four days will be too warm for snow.

Oct: trace
Nov: 12cm (5")
Dec: 12.5cm (5")

Got 3cm of fresh snow yesterday for a white New Year's Day.

Oct: trace
Nov: 12cm (5")
Dec: 15.5cm (6")

Total to date: 27.5cm (11")
Normal to date: 48cm (19")

A little underwhelming season so far, but we have 2/3 of the snow season ahead of us, so that can still change.

Current forecast calls for 6-8" on the 9th and 4" on the 12th, so that should bring the monthly totals up to par (for MTD) and season to date would be brought almost up to par.

Got 3cm a couple days ago, and 18cm tonight. The switch over to rain happened about an hour ago but it should switch back to snow in a few hours and give us at least a few more cm. Might get us over the normal to date mark.

Not the first snow, but the first snow "event" for the season in JNU. And quite cold too presently. Glad I'm not there.

in intensity through the weekend as well. Snow has started dry
and fluffy but may become wetter and heavier as temperatures warm
through the weekend.

630 AM AKST Sat Jan 13 2024

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM AKST SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 9 to 12
inches. Snowfall rates of 0.75 to 1.5 inches/hour are possible
through the day.
