Big fan of the turnpike myself, I like the dark areas with no lights to bug my eyes. Just have to remember which rest stop is just before that long stretch, in case you need to use the bathroom. :-)

I don't know how long it would take for you, but when I did the scenic route when I was in Clearwater (last year) to Orlando, it took perhaps 3 hours since I stopped along the way to eat. It was nice and I got to see towns I never heard of. It was very pleasant drive.
