I may be the only one who thinks they jumped the gun with this stay-at-home order. Of course, as of today the governor of Kansas has issued a a stay-at-home order for the rest of the state. Apparently cutting 25% of the instructional time for kids in public schools was not enough for her. I hope lots of us remember this come election time and get her out of office. Even Trump is talking about a military quarantine for parts of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. I would rather die of Wuhan disease in a free country than be imprisoned in my house. It is a dark moment in the history of the United States.

You can thank China for their widespread acceptance of live wet markets. Literally fish gunk slaps out of wet buckets and mixes with whatever else is being sold nearby, fresh or not, and flashes up a brand new deadly to human virus. Finally China woke up to the potential harm of these markets and they've banned them, but that's a tad too late for thousands of people worldwide. Kudos, China.

What is a leader to do to keep their people safe? It's somewhat uncharted territory, harkening memory to the 1918 Spanish Flu that killed 50M people.

Wide, I have family in Kansas and we are in Nevada. Your state is behind us and will be effected. Your governor is smart.

We have been home a lot, but we don't feel imprisoned. Can still get out and run necessary errands and walk, or bike. Outdoor activities are encouraged. Just have to stay clear of others.

Apparently you don’t understand the reality that the cases are still increasing exponentially in many areas, this is the correct measure for the governor to take as things will be getting worse in the coming weeks. Also, I was shocked at how many cars were on the roads watching the video of the Jonesboro tornado.

I certainly understand the risk associated with Wuhan disease. I look at the Johns Hopkins map multiple times per day. I think this was more than likely not an accident on behalf of the Chinese. They may have not done this themselves. It could have easily been done by another group to make it look like the Chinese were responsible. We may never know. The economic impact is crippling our country by the day. I could contract Wuhan disease and it could kill me. I understand that. However, you have to stop and think about the impact this is having on the emotional health of people. I would be shocked if we do not see an uptick in suicides and domestic violence. Just yesterday a son killed a father in a domestic violence situation.

Oh for sure. Not all of us may know that the Communist Chinese government encourage and approved letting their people govern their own food production "supply." Either they were not economically able to serve their people fully and completely or they just succumbed to the wet market idea and whatever other means of "farming" the Chinese people could do to produce and profit from selling food to their own people. But it's gotten out of control and has been for way too long. Need we even think of the dog festivals like the Yulin Dog Festival, where thousands of dogs are tortured to supposedly "tenderize" their meat during their demise or more so empower their eaten flesh. The Chinese dog and cat killing and eating goes back 1,000 years if not more and it's their "culture." I love dogs and cats and would never, ever think of eating one, or, of course, a poor tortured one. That is wrong on many, many, many levels. So my view of this huge worldwide ongoing news story is aggravated by my diametrically opposed opinion of how the Chinese kill, sell and eat dogs and cats and their methods of carrying this out. Not to mention including many other kinds of wildlife, bats and pangolins. Yikes and millions of sharp spikes.

But getting back to your point, widespreadfan, I agree, this tragic story, a real to life story, up and in our faces, is terrible for our collective feeling about our well-being. There will be more arguments and tragically, more deaths from fighting. The economic circumstances are absolutely devastating, oh yes they are.

Everyone stay safe, distance yourself 6 feet from other people, wear gloves and mask, even though the wearing of gloves and masks hasn't been (as of right now) mandated by our State or Federal government.

I don’t have school age children, but I was concerned that students were going to be way behind. Until someone pointed out everybody is going to be way behind. It will probably take a few years to get K-12 education straightened out.

Children do not need to be behind though. That is my whole point. Online education is a joke as we are experiencing it right now. Our district is supposed to be one of the "better" ones in terms of technology. They are giving busy work to my three children right now. It is taking me time in my day to help them with it. So effectively I am now "home schooling" my children. I am upset as a parent at this farce and as a taxpayer I have a beef with it as well. Other states have not followed the path of Kansas in this manner.

I was surprised too. It kept coming closer and the cars kept flying down the interstate.

Also, referring to the OP, is it really ok for people go get on here and adapt the presidents racially charged term for COVID-19 for their own use, one that is causing a lot of pain for the Chinese American community? Other posts they're making heavily imply a belief in conspiracy and a strong dislike for Muslims and the LGBTQ community. He also posted a longer version of this rant in the states primary forum.
