This thread is why I always get and keep copies of IDs in a safe. And the more the state doesn't want me to have two DLs, the more I want to have that. AZ doesn't seem to care. CA was a headache, but I always made sure I had a second valid DL. Just report this stuff as lost, then keep it in a safe deposit box or something.

What kind of a home invasion robbery is this where they steal personal ID documents?

If they wanted to steal your identity stealing one individual's identity is usually not smart given you can put a hold on your credit report pretty much immediately along with freezing bank cards etc.

Let me guess the only reasonable assumption here is a relative took it. Most thieves are not going to break into a home and take your ID they want cash, jewelry and these days I'd say non-electronic items of value, since apple products and other things can be remotely locked and wiped etc.
