Quite a few posters on City-Data have atrocious grammar and spelling issues. Yes, I include myself in that group. I found Grammarly which is a free spelling and grammar plugin. They do have a paid version but the free one works fine.
We have many foreign members here. English is their second language. Don't expect them to speak/write flawless English.
Grammarly is a huge app. Eats a lot of memory space. I deleted it.
Language on forums like this is conversational. There are some people whose writing style makes my eye twitchy every so often, but generally I'm not expecting impeccable grammar and syntax on a message board.

Agreed. I used to be the ultimate Grammar Nazi on message boards, but I no longer care as long as the message gets across. The only thing I can't tolerate are the walls of text with no paragraph breaks or punctuation. I'm always surprised when those posts actually get replies...ain't no one got time fo' that!

Same here. My spelling is pretty good, my punctuation less so, but my typing is atrocious and I don't care. It's a discussion forum, not a graded paper. As long as I can understand the thoughts and ideas being shared I'm good with less than perfect presentation. With the exception of a few pet peeves of course!
