Of course, this name is "pronounced the way it's spelled" in Irish... just not in English.
Not all languages that use the Roman alphabet pronounce letters the same way we do in English... but they're not incorrect or not pronouncing the word the way it is spelled. It's just that we're expecting (for some odd and egotistical reason) that every language that uses the Roman alphabet will use it in exactly the same way English does... and then we borrow their words and complain about the pronunciation.

Excellent point! That's why Siobhan is pronounced "Shih-VON", and not "SY-oh-ban". Or Sean pronounced "Shawn", and not "See-an".
