Chewy, it is obvious you are totally ignorant of the facts, you don't even know that 1100 people showed up to hear him speak with less then a 24 hour notice. For a city with only 27,523 population that is astounding!

Fact is an enormous number of people in Wyoming were curious about what he had to say.

According to Google Adwords more then 50,000 searches were initiated for Bill or William Ayers in the last month since the UoW banned him from speaking on campus.

You obviously don't know anything about the persons you are attacking, except that one of them might be a little overweight. So I guess that makes 67% of the population of the United States your enemy, since they are overweight too.

You clearly know anything about Wiliam Ayers. or the reasons for this lawsuit or the reasons most good AMERICAN'S were opposed to the war in Viet Nam during the 60's. There is no reason to respond to the rest of your drivel.

The courts of the United States of America decided in their favor.

Though it out!

Uhmmmm .... just a minor point of contention here CptnRn. In your claim that chewy doesn't know what he's talking about based on his objection to the student's weight, he did encourage us not to criticize her for that.........

No offense intended, Captain, but I doubt that MOST Americans were opposed to the Vietnam War in the 60s. That might have been true in the 70s as it drug on, U.S. casualties mounted, and victory for South Vietnam became less and less a probability. Historians may write it differently, but I lived it, and that's not the way I remember it.

I'm a Vietnam era vet from the late 60s. I saw protesters as spineless traitors -- protest, burn the flag, then run to Canada or back to the safety of a college campus. They're simply called war protesters now, but back then they were cowardly draft dodgers. Some spat on our returning soldiers. Whether we should have been in that war or not, I can't say. Certainly it shouldn't have been fought the way it was, but that's neither here nor there. The U.S. was at war, and the draft dodgers of that era were, imho, a cancer that took down the country. Those like Ayers were the worst. Peaceful protesting is one thing; terrorism is another.

I think that's why you see so much hostility towards him in these parts. It was bad enough fighting the North Vietnamese without having to contend with the war at home. There were ample enemies over there. And now we have to provide university space so he can spout more? Yeah, it's kind of disgusting for those of us who wore the uniform because (we thought) it was the honorable thing to do. I could forgive Ayers if he asked, but I'll never respect him. As far as I'm concerned, my trash can is too good for him.

Thank you for your service WyoNewk.

I have some loved ones whose names are on The Wall. I couldn't agree more with your comment about your trash can.

Is that really the best you can do? I'll ask you again (as I did before) : When the UW rescinded Ayers invitation how were his civil rights violated?

Can you express a difference of opinion without insulting anyone? And one wonders how much YOU know about Ayers...

Amen to this post, my sentiments exactly.
If my sons were UW students and they attended said speech, they best be hoping for a scholarship to finish school!

Your post makes me sad, KTMMan, to think there are still parents out there who would react as such if their children went to hear someone with a differing point of view speak. Why would simply listening to him speak scare you so much? You know a large part of his speech centered on how our currnent education system encourages students NOT to think for themselves and ask questions, but to simply do what they are told. Hmmmm.......

And WyoNewk, your post sounds like you were around in the 60's, so I'm surprised at your statements. The majority of protestors DIDN'T run back to Canada.......most of them eventually got drafted and served (and perhaps died) or had just returned wounded and saw 1st hand that it was an unwinnable war without a purpose. I'm married to one, I have 3 cousins who were there, and when I read your post to my hubby, he was offended because he and every person who protested with him nearly died for our country. Are they cowards because they disagreed? Protested? Fought for our country?

He worries that we are yet again becoming a country where citizens are criticized and called unpatriotic for disagreeing with this war. His belief is there aren't enough people around who were around then to understand how important it is for citizens to have the right to disagree to keep a balanced viewpoint. He's not a fan of Ayers' methods, but believes you all are the ones giving Ayers his power with your fear, and those who threaten to withdraw funds from UW, etc.
