Description: As the Northeast Valley grew in the early 1980s, the need for a hospital became apparent. This 130-bed facility was built in 1983 to serve an area within a 10-mile radius of 40th Street and Bell Road. Today Paradise Valley Hospital is owned by Vanguard Health Systems and is run by their Abrazo Health Care, with a staff of 700 physicians. The hospital has 8 surgical suites available for outpatient procedures and general surgeries. The diagnostic imaging department features an open-scan MRI unit. Paradise Valley Hospital also has a Women’s Center that provides women’s health-care services and includes a labor and delivery center. In addition to recovery units for orthopedic, oncology, and pediatric patients, the hospital also has a 14-bed intensive-care and coronary-care unit and a 28-bed ER with cardiac monitors. The hospital offers outpatient surgery, rehabilitation services, spinal treatment, and hyperbaric wound treatment. Since 2006 it has undergone nearly about $50 in renovations, including updates to its emergency room and diagnostic imaging area. All rooms are now private, so no more roommates here.
