Description: Just when you thought there couldn’t be any more malls to visit, along comes Desert Ridge, a $170 million, 1.3-million-square-foot “suburban lifestyle entertainment center” featuring several gated communities, commercial businesses, and 5 unique shopping districts with individual shopping themes. Keep in mind, this is northeast Phoenix suburbia, so you’ll run through gauntlets of teenagers. As a parent, keep in mind many of the shops are geared toward youths. So the Hollister or American Eagle Outfitters might just keep them occupied for a moment. There are more than 100 stores at Desert Ridge, with books at Barnes & Noble; bikes at Bikes Direct; filling feasts at the Fatburger; headwear at Hat World; shoes at Famous Footwear; and a multiplex theater and eateries, including In-N-Out Burger, Dave and Buster’s, and Yard House. And if that isn’t enough retail, the CityNorth development just to the east is also open and growing.
