Description: Four Peaks Brewing Co. is situated in what used to be the Borden’s Creamery in Tempe, giving the place a hip, funky industrial warehouse atmosphere. Even the 72-foot-long bar seems lost in all that space. The brewpub caters to college and young urban professional crowds with around 10 different varieties of beer. A favorite is Kiltlifter, a Scottish ale with a rich body, Hefeweizen, and the classic 8th Street Ale. Seasonal beers like the autumnal Pumpkin Porter are incredible. Get a growler bottle for $14 and refill it for $10. It’s a brewpub, sure, but the unique menu puts it among the most successful locally owned American restaurants in the Southeast Valley. Locals come here regularly for savory, cheesy chicken beer bread rolls with artichoke hearts, salmon BLTs, pesto veggie pizza, fish and chips, and daily specials like pork adovada with fresh tortillas. A second location on the southeast corner of Frank Lloyd Wright and Hayden in Scottsdale is also open (480-991-1795). Both sites do decent happy hours, and a reverse happy hour 11 p.m. to close.
