Description: The phrase oasis in the desert may be highly overused, but in the case of Agua Caliente Park, it rings true. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this 101-acre park, located at 12325 E. Roger Rd. in northeast Tucson, features a natural spring that feeds into 3 large ponds. Palm trees and beautiful Santa Catalina Mountain views add to the pleasures of this lovely park. Walking, wildlife viewing, birding, and picnicking in the shade are all activities open to the public. Some of the large mesquite trees are thought to be over 200 years old, and the site was first occupied as early as 5,500 years ago. Rarely crowded, the park is a terrific spot for a picnic or for lounging with a great book. The lovely Ranch House Visitor Center and Art Gallery are open seasonally. The park offers many educational programs and early-morning bird-watching walks.
