Description: This place has become sort of a landmark, a true bar that’s become famous as a colorful local hangout on The Avenue. The name pays homage to the bull dolphin; and the interior pays homage to the maritime culture of long ago, when oars were still made of wood and when men went down to the sea in boats (and went down to the local watering hole as soon as they got off their boats). There’s plenty of wood here, along with all manner of nautical artifacts. This is a casual bar during the daytime, and early evening hours. As the night progresses, the South County trendies find their way in, and the dress becomes more “night-time on The Avenue”–style.There’s live music most nights, including a lively trio on weekends with electric violin, guitar, and drums. The most popular drink is the Bloody Bull, the house version of the Bloody Mary but with a twist. Also frequently requested are the bar’s Screwdrivers (made with real Florida orange juice). It’s a crowded place, with great people-watching. And you’re right next to everything else on Atlantic.
