Description: The Crest Theatre, which has become a genuine cultural magnet for South County, is a blast from the past. It’s housed in the restored 1925 Delray High School building and was dedicated in 1993 as a performing arts center. The theater is actually the original high school auditorium. It was re-designed as an intimate, 323-seat facility combining the original high school color (blue) with warm burgundy and gold accents, along with state-of-the-art lighting, sound, and multi-media capabilities. Surrounding the theater are nine beautifully restored classrooms, now hosting meetings, workshops, receptions, and art classes.During the Season, The Main Stage Series offers professional theater, music, and dance, along with national touring shows and unique variety shows. The Broadway Cabaret Series (Jan–Apr) brings in some of the hottest performers on Broadway for memorable performances and tête-à-tête with the audiences. The Lecture Series (Jan–Apr) features notable speakers from many fields all around the country, who might speak on anything from foreign policy to the state of the arts in America. The Crest is one cultural gift that keeps giving, because it also serves as a venue for other organizations, schools, and community groups to present their own productions and meetings. There’s also space for cast parties and other get-togethers. The Ocean Breeze Room is located in the Crest Theater building, and is used for ceremonies, receptions, and meetings up to a hundred people. Additionally, The Frances Bourque Library, Lettie McNeill Music Room, and more classrooms are located here.
