Description: If Dada sounds to you like the type of unusual place where you can have a really great time—you’re right. It’s a 1924 two-story house turned restaurant/pub, open every day until 2 a.m. It attracts an eclectic crowd of artists, musicians, poets, writers, colorful Bohemian characters, and other creative types—as well as people interested in rubbing shoulders with these types. Local folks love the atmosphere and the special events always taking place here. The interior is dark, intimate, and romantic, with lace window curtains, vintage clocks and drawings on the walls, and period light-fixtures. There’s also outdoor seating. The events? Open mic nights, poetry slams, fashion shows, popscene Saturdays, reggae nights, Latin nights, magic nights, great bands—both local and out-of-town, even indie films. And you can take it all in while sitting on a couch in the living room and munching on fondue. The wine selection is as eclectic as the clientele., and the mojitos are great. Two of the most popular choices are the mango with mango rum, fresh mint, lime, Dada’s own homemade syrup, and a splash of soda; and the pama, with pomegranate liqueur, a premium rum, lime, the homemade syrup, and a splash of soda. The left ear is a shaken martini (with a drop of grenadine at the bottom) that serves homage to Vincent van Gogh. But if you’re in the mood for something smoother, try nuts and berries, a mix of Chambord, Frangelico, and cream. In an old house like this, there are always legends. And Dada is no different. The original owner is said to still be hanging out—in ghostly form, of course—in the upstairs staff room.
