Description: This 18-hole, championship golf course was the site for the Senior PGA tour for the past 18 years and is considered to be one of the country’s best public courses. Designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert van Hagge in 1972, 7 saltwater lakes, mangroves, palm trees, and a subtropical lagoon make up the par 72, 7,180-yard course. The 7th hole takes full advantage of Crandon’s natural landscape, having golfers send their balls over the Biscayne Bay in a challenging par 4. The course’s secluded location and tropical flora is ideal for golfers looking for a quiet afternoon on the greens. Rates for residents and nonresidents vary depending on the season, ranging for nonresidents from $63.50 (May to Nov 20) to $160 (Dec 15 to Apr 14) and for residents from $50.30 to $78.50 for the same dates. Tee times can be booked online or by calling the course. The course also has practice facilities including a chipping and putting green and driving range equipped with lights so golfers can practice in the evening. A pro shop stocked with golf accessories and apparel and a restaurant, The Links Grill, where diners can overlook the course while enjoying traditional American fare fused with South American flavors, are also on the premises.
