Telephone: (305) 642-1264
Address: 1508 SW 8th St.

Description: The Tower Theater opened in late 1926 and served as a cultural liaison for Cuban refugees who settled in the neighborhood starting in the 1960s. Until it closed in 1984, the theater played host to Spanish-subtitled films and then Spanish language films as the landscape of the neighborhood transformed. Miami Dade College reopened the theater in 2002, which serves as a revived cultural institution for events, lectures, community events, and films, above all, which still reflect the city and neighborhood’s diversity.
