17. Easter Bonnet Dog Parade
City: Palm Beach, FL
Category: Annual Events & Festivals
Telephone: (561) 276-7511
Description: The participants in this parade are dogs wearing Easter bonnets. There are some Delray wags who call this the fashion event of the year. Certainly the participants—bulldogs, poodles, lhasa apsos, Pekingese, and dachshunds, among others—would agree. They’re enthusiastic walkers coaxed along by an occasional doggie biscuit or piece of dried beef jerky. And they’re definitely fashion-forward; they even have “the walk” down. At the conclusion of the parade, at Old School Square, the judges will hand out the following awards: Most Original, Best Traditional, Funniest, Most Tropical, Most Frou-Frou, Tiniest Teacup, and the highlight of the affair, the Owner-Doggie Look-A-Like award. Held around Easter time in Mar or Apr; free.

20. Jupiter/Juno Beach Art Fest By The Sea
City: Palm Beach, FL
Category: Annual Events & Festivals
Telephone: (954) 472-3755
Description: This free festival in mid Mar, which began in 1989, has become a harbinger of early spring for North County residents. It’s well-attended by both well-known artists who have been coming here for years, and creative new talents on the scene. You can find sculptures from six inches to life-size; paintings so vivid you’d swear they were photographs (and photographs so artsy you’d swear they were paintings!); one-of-a-kind, handmade jewelry items that no one else in the entire world will be wearing; and ceramics that will not only catch your eye, but enchant it. And it all takes place on A1A, Palm Beach County’s Oceanside Road, so you’ll be right next to the ocean and the sea breezes.

You can sample Caribbean foods like jerk chicken (a Jamaican specialty), conch fritters, spicy conch salad, turtle soup, or peas ‘n rice. You can watch the brilliantly costumed stilt-walkers, purchase Caribbean handicrafts, or buy Bob Marley memorabilia.
24. Royal Palm Art & Music Festival
City: Palm Beach, FL
Category: Annual Events & Festivals
Telephone: (561) 790-6200
Description: This festival enjoyed a successful debut in 2010. There’s something for everyone here: a juried art show, street painting, street performers, music, cook-offs, and a beer garden. And the kids won’t be bored, either, with a bounce house and carnival rides. There’s also a Kids Edible Art Kitchen, where the kids are the artists who get to eat their art, rather than display it! All art and crafts are original; they can’t be imported, manufactured, or mass-produced. Held in late Mar; free.
