Address: 650 Okeechobee Blvd.

Description: This show pays homage to the vintage period that started just after World War II, and ended in the mid-1970s. When the war ended, 12 million American servicemen and women came home and helped unleash a burst of creative energy in business, the arts, fashion, design, and popular culture that changed the world forever. Think poodle skirts, Danish-modern, hula hoops, the Twist, automobiles dripping with chrome and fins, glamorous costume jewelry, and real jewelry that Tiffany never could have conceived of in earlier days. There are three separate areas of the show. The first one has high-end designer clothing and jewelry. The second one features very nice items, but not necessarily with designer names. And the third section features the more-affordable items. Guest lecturers discuss the styling and furnishings of the Vintage period, which ranged from the conservative post-war “let’s just get back to work” ethic to the halcyon days of the ‘70s, when we wore bell-bottoms and platform shoes (woman and men). Other lecturers discuss how to integrate vintage items into a modern lifestyle. Held in mid to late Nov; admission is charged.
