Description: The oldest shoe store in the same location in the country, Stout’s also has stayed in the family and been run by four generations of the Stout family. Each customer is still individually measured and fit according to what they are looking for at this high-end quality footwear store. And they have the last operating Baldwin Flyer in the country (a basket delivery system that delivers the shoes from the upstairs storage area to customers downstairs). The business thrived in the 1950s by buying factory-second shoes and repairing them to be sold at a discount to the customer. In addition to the foot X-ray machine, Sidney Stout kept a monkey and a parrot in the store. They have another parrot there today.
