Description: Located in Broad Ripple Village, the Indianapolis Art Center offers a treasure house of things to see, buy, and do. The center features more than 50 exhibitions a year plus classes in many different areas to bring out the artist in you. The Frank M. Basile Studio Shop has original works for sale from regional and local artists. Spend some time in ARTSPARK, a 12-acre outdoor sculpture park. Free admission.

Description: Owned and operated by the Arts Council of Indianapolis, this seven-story-tall glass enclosed structure is a great place to start a visit to Indy. Built in 1995, the facility offers a spectacular view of the city and is also a wonderful resource to find out what’s going on in Indy. An attendant on duty at the official visitor center is available to answer questions about the city. Located at the corner of Illinois and Washington Streets, the Artsgarden is suspended over downtown streets. It offers free performances and exhibits along with ticketing assistance for major exhibits around the city. Elevated walkways link it to Circle Centre, hotels, offices, shops, and restaurants.

Description: An emerging arts organization, the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art has a handy location in two overlapping Indianapolis cultural districts—Indiana Avenue, and The Canal and White River State Park. Exhibits ranging from paintings to graffiti to video art never fail to be interesting. The museum shop is a great place to buy a gift for yourself or someone else. Admission is free.

Description: The new, state-of-the-art, 63,000-seat stadium is the permanent home of the Indianapolis Colts, as well as a venue for future NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Final Fours. Lucas Oil Stadium will also play host to the 2012 Super Bowl. The almost $20 million facility had its grand opening on Aug 14, 2008. Lucas Oil Stadium also is a major site for conventions, exhibitions, trade shows, concerts, and other events. The unique retractable roof makes it exceptionally flexible for both indoor and outdoor events. The roof can be opened or closed in about nine minutes. The seven-level facility covers 1.8 million square feet and features 137 corporate suites, two club lounges, meeting rooms, and two exhibit halls.

Description: At this 19th-century living-history museum, Indiana’s past becomes the present. Visitors experience many authentic frontier activities, including a camp meeting, a wedding celebration, and a historic baseball game. Discover the Lenape Indian Camp & Trading Post, Blacksmith Studio, 19th-Century Flatboat, 1836 Prairietown, and Liberty Corner, a re-created 1886 town complete with a working farm. Special seasonal programs include Follow the North Star, Symphony on the Prairie, Glorious Fourth, Country Fair, Headless Horseman, and Conner Prairie by Candlelight.

Description: Located on the newly renovated campus of the historic Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet High School, the Crispus Attucks Museum houses memorabilia from the first all-black high school in the state of Indiana. The history-making African American community produced such legends as basketball great Oscar “The Big O” Robinson, jazz sensation Freddie Hubbard, and opera star Angela Brown. The museum’s archival collection contains yearbooks dating back to the turn of the 20th century, along with a vast collection of city and state items.
